In 1996 I used 2 VCRs to edit Pulp Fiction into chronological order. I was 14. That same excitement to edit and create that drew me to filmmaking then, still drives me today. It’s where the magic happens. In almost three decades, that playful, puzzle-solving excitement has never left me.

I moved on from double-VCR hatchet jobs to editing whatever my budding filmmaker friends and I were making. This was the time of MiniDV and the PD150. If you know, you know. We argued, laughed and hustled, making short comedy films off our own backs until one day we were commissioned to make a nine-part web series by ChannelFlip and Google in the late 2000’s - Fanboys Anonymous. Not long after we gained a commission by Zeppotron and Channel 4 to make three original comedy shorts for their initial foray into web-specific films.

In between the comedy films I gained opportunities in advertising and branded films working for various agencies such as BuzzFeed and Special Treats (now Once Upon A Time) that served brands like Coca-Cola, Virgin, BMW and many more. At Special Treats I edited a number of featurettes for titles including The Aeronauts, Carol and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

And of course, I kept making the comedy films and editing anything else that interested me.

In recent years, I’ve built strong working relationships with agencies, production companies, and creative collaborators. In most cases, these connections have developed into long-term partnerships.

I also love innovation and advancements in filmmaking technologies. I keep up to date with any new gadget or software that opens up new possibilities for filmmaking. I don’t do it because I have to, I do it because I am genuinely interested. I remember it wasn’t that long ago that a 360 camera rig involved at least 4 GoPros - I love how things have moved on.

In the last 5 years I have been the lead in-house editor at Brickwall films specialising in educational, safeguarding and sustainability films for organisations like the BBC, NSPCC and National Grid. I have edited and overseen the post production of a 50-episode BBC Bitesize series, ensuring seamless workflow between designers to animators and other editors. My early success was revamping the post production workflow, redesigning the folder systems as well as creating workflow guidelines for freelancers.

Looking to the future I am excited to be challenged, learn and continue to make magic.
